Charles was born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia. He was consistently ranked in the top ten of the Southern section and top 50 nationally in singles as a junior player. Following an outstanding junior career, he earned a four-year scholarship to Clark Atlanta University. While there, he was selected All-Conference for three years and was Captain of the Men’s Varsity Tennis Team. He graduated in 1986 with a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing. Charles has 20 years of teaching experience in the state of Georgia. He coached at the Next Level Atlanta Tennis Academy at the Racquet Club of the South and has trained and coached many of Atlanta’s top juniors. He joined Windward Lake Club as co-director of junior tennis and continued his impressive coaching, training top ranked players. He brings years of experience to the Darko and Byrd Tennis Academy. He is a USPTR certified coach. In 2014, Charles won the Georgia Professional of the Year Award.
